While I would prefer Rossi as Governor, I don't think a Republican has a prayer in a special election in Washington State. Yes, the means in which we got here are disappointing, but whats done is done.
Gregoire isn't the end of the world, and we would be better served by just moving on, and using that moral highground to try and achieve a victory with enough margins so it can't be questioned next time.
I voted for Rossi, and it was not an uninformed vote. As Attorney General of WA, Gregoire published multiple memos (and related work) during her tenure used for the edification of LE officers statewide.
Gregoire is so far to the left on matters of criminal justice I always had a hard time believing she was actually AG.
Sadly, I have become somewhat apathetic towards politics and our political process. I feel that in the grand scheme of the universe it matters not one whit who is voted into what office. Life will go on, and those of us down here in "Honest-day's-work-for-an-honest-day's-pay" Land will continue to shuffle along at our own pace.
It's up to ->us<- to be happy. The government has less to do with that than people are wont to believe.
I think that this is the point. People are throwing up their hands and saying "what ever". We need to restore voter confidence. I don't really care which one wins, I just want to make sure that it is fair and above board. I cannot say that about the current election. There were too many questions raised by too many people.
Perhaps we need to bring UN election monitors in if we do the second try... :)
I say rather than bring in the U.N. we bring in some people from Afghanistan and the Ukraine. They seem to have a pretty good handle on this whole democracy thing.
